With applications closed for many courses beginning this year, the January 2018 intake is your current closest date for starting a UK postgraduate course. One benefit of a course that starts in January is that you can complete any pre-sessional courses needed, for example you could start a three month one in September, and then go straight into your master's programme. No having sit around waiting for your course to start, or, even better, no flying back and forth from home to the UK!

Not every UK university offers January intakes, therefore you do have slightly fewer options. However, there is still plenty to choose from! University of Aberdeen – The University of Aberdeen offer January intake programmes in Business, Geosciences, Engineering, Information Technology, Social Sciences, Chemistry, and Arts and Literature. Taking advantage of Aberdeen's status as a world class site of oil and gas industry, many of the courses focus on aspects of oil and gas engineering. If this is something you are interested in, Aberdeen has to be top of your list!

Birmingham City University – Birmingham City offer most of their postgraduate courses with a January intake, including Business and Accounting, Media, Computer Technology, Construction, Engineering, and Law. The University has partnerships with the prestigious Birmingham Conservatoire, offering postgraduate courses in classical musical skills and performance.
