The University of Leeds

The Standard Course Start

UG: 28 September 2020

University of Birmingham

The university has released details about the course start 2020 for offer holders.

For the first term, students are given the option to attend the course as normal, arriving during the first term (remotely+on-campus), or attending the class remotely throughout the first term. Note that the previous announcement of arriving on campus before 30 October is no longer valid, whichever way the students chooses to attend the first term requires only online registration and no further action.

Courses start on 14 September, and the induction week starts from 7 September. If it’s not possible to arrive before 5 September, students may attend their course remotely and arrive on campus at a feasible time. 

The advisable arrival dates are 5 September, 17 October, 21 November, and 9 January 2021.

Scholarship Opportunities


Heriot-Watt University

The university will offer a £1,000 scholarship to students who arrive on campus in Scotland before the end of October for their courses starting in September. The scholarship will be deducted from their tuition fee and is only applicable for courses of the 2020/21 academic year and students arriving on the Scotland campus before the end of October.


The University of Sydney

With a view to attracting more outstanding students from around the world, the university is offering Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship (VCIS), which mounts up to AUD 40,000. 


4 levels of the scholarship: 

AUD 40,000: offered in two equal allotments in each term

AUD 20,000: offered in each term

AUD 10,000: offered in each term

AUD 5,000: offered in each term


Requirements: 

  • International students who have submitted applications but have yet started CRICOS registration for the UG or PG courses.
  • Students must attend the course on campus
  • Students have received an unconditional offer before the deadlines below


No application required; to qualify, students must have received an unconditional offer before the following deadlines:

Pre-sessional Language Programme


University of Nottingham

Autumn 2020 pre-sessional courses are now open for applications. Details of the 6-week and 10-week courses can be found on the university website.


Loughborough University

The university is introducing a 6-week PSE for students due to start their PG courses in January 2021. The deadline for application is 21 September 2020. 


Requirements: 

IELTS overall 6.0, with 5.5 in each element

TOEFL overall 81 and above, with 21 in Speaking, 20 in Writing, 20 in Reading, and 20 in Listening

PTE overall 55, with 52 in each element

Language cert - Writing and Speaking overall B2 Communicator Higher Pass, with 33 in each element 

Dualingo 100

The programme will start on 12 October 2020 and ends on 27 November 2020.

The University of Leeds

The university is in the process of issuing CAS for students starting in September/ October; CAS for those due to start in January will be issued in September. To receive a CAS, students are required to accept the unconditional offer and provide important information, including details of the passport, and pay the £1,500 deposit. 


The university advises that, if required, students should submit all supporting documents as soon as they can to complete their application. 

Deadline for supporting document submission for the School of Business PG taught programmes: 

For courses with September start: 31 August 2020

For courses with January start: 11 December 2020


Loughborough University

The application deadline for courses starting in January 2021 is 23 November 2020.


University of Northumbria

Key features of the second PG programme application at the London campus: 

IELTS is not required given the applicant has successfully completed the first PG degree. 

An award letter for the first degree is sufficient to receive CAS, no need to wait for the degree certificate. 

A Postgraduate Diploma is also accepted. 

T2 or T5 VISA holders may apply

For September start, students can choose to attend the course on campus or remotely. 

A scholarship of £1,000 - £3,000 is available. 

Students can choose a 1-year or 2-year PG programme with an internship. 

4-year arrangement: 1 year learning + 6 months internship + 6 months dissertation + 2 years PSW

3 starts in a year: September, January, May

The university will keep the accommodation allocated to students and start charging upon the student’s arrival on campus, given that the students confirm their date of arrival with the accommodation office at the university.
